Sarah Chickering, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and earned her doctorate from Seattle Pacific University. She specializes in individual psychotherapy and has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of several mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, spiritual struggles, women’s issues, and bereavement. She has expertise in assisting others to heal from loss with particular strengths in working with clients who have traumatic grief, such as losing a loved one to suicide, violent deaths, and miscarriage.
Dr. Chickering’s background includes working in student counseling centers, community mental health agencies, and employment conducting neuropsychological evaluations for mild brain injury and learning disability/ADHD concerns. Dr. Chickering’s approach to treatment is humanistic but also employs Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and cognitive behavioral techniques. Dr. Chickering is an empathic and effective therapist who collaborates with her clients to work through problems.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Chickering researches and presents on topics such as forgiveness, religious doubt, and spiritual suffering. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Society for the Psychology of Religion and Spirituality,
