Michael O’Friel, Psy.D.

Dr. Michael O’Friel, is a licensed clinical psychologist who earned his doctorate from George Fox University. Licensed for over ten years, he emphasizes restoration of wholeness in a person seeking treatment. This includes healing from the past while striving to learn new skills, allowing greater possibilities for growth in the future. Much of his clinical experience focuses on work with adults dealing with the myriad of serious mental health challenges including, but not limited to, depression, anger, anxiety, insomnia, trauma, substance and sexual addiction. Training and education at George Fox University included focus on integration of faith into clinical practice, and his dissertation explored the role of shame across the developmental stage of adolescence.

Dr. O’Friel has provided expert opinion on topics including motivation to change, healthy living, and sleep hygiene to the office of the Surgeon General for the US Army and been a regular guest on American Forces Network (AFN) radio while serving in Germany. He has worked with university student populations, in hospital outpatient settings, and with military veterans. He currently works as an embedded civilian psychologist with the US Army, as well as providing therapy services at Cascade Counseling. He is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) as his main clinical approaches.

Dr. O’Friel sees clients on Saturdays via telehealth only.
