Michael O’Friel, Psy.D.
Dr. Michael O’Friel is a licensed clinical psychologist, licensed since 2007, with specialized expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in both civilian and U.S. Army populations. His clinical focus is on comprehensive, evidence-based ADHD evaluations for adults, with particular attention to diagnostic accuracy, differential diagnosis, and real-world functional impact.
Dr. O’Friel has extensive experience working with military service members, and currently leads one of six Embedded Behavioral Health Clinics servicing 4000 soldiers on Joint Base Lewis McChord.
While the majority of his practice is devoted to ADHD assessment, Dr. O’Friel maintains a small psychotherapy caseload using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) when clinically indicated. His approach is practical, structured, and focused on emotional regulation, healing from past trauma and improving overall functioning. Former patients are always welcome to return for care as needs evolve.
Dr. O’Friel earned his doctorate from George Fox University, where his training emphasized evidence-based practice and the integration of psychological theory with applied clinical skills. His professional experience includes work in hospital outpatient settings, university clinics, and embedded military behavioral health roles. He has also provided consultation to the Office of the U.S. Army Surgeon General on topics related to behavior change and performance optimization.
